This website launched!

Why?

Finally, my own website!

I've actually been messing around with web-apps for a while, though always on-and-off. Like most of my personal project, I would build in a spurt of motivation, then leave it alone until I'm completely estranged from what I had done.

This is ultimately the point of deploying a website live like this. While you can make the argument that it could be useful as a portfolio object, I find it much more valuable as a way of pushing myself to carry on the project development until the end of its roadmap.

How was it so far?

My biggest disappointment was that I couldn't self-host it (for those not in the know: self-hosting means running your website from a machine in your house). I was held back by some issues, none of which are long-term problems, in fact I still intend to look into self-hosting, however it became clear that I was running out of motivation juice and needed to have something out to the public to push be forward.

Beyond that, the site as it is so far was fun to build. I ended up using a lot of components from my many incomplete web-app projects, and expect to use some more which are in a prototype state right now.

What then?

This website is in a very bare-bones state as of the time of deployment. There are several features to be added in the short, medium and long terms, which are all outlined in the main Website project page. See you there!
